Kelly has over 35 years of experience in theatre under her belt in many roles, not least as a performer and a director.   She is a classically trained vocalist for which she has won awards, and once enjoyed many years in a brass band mainly playing tenor horn.  But her biggest love has been the acting and directing.  Having played Evita a few years back she is very excited to get started on directing this her most favourite show.  Kelly says the story of Eva Peron is, amongst other things one of power and overcoming prejudice. It sits very well in today’s world and she looks forward to sharing her interpretation with you all.

Kelly says that despite this show being centred around the life of one controversially influential woman there is much for everyone to do. Because it is Real, everyone on stage must have developed a real character and a real story.  Everyone has an important role to play to make it believable.  As a lover of the “method” style of acting Kelly finds exploring and developing such characters from nothing fantastic fun.  “It is an exciting opportunity and challenge for those who want to be part of it.

As well as being based on true events the show is symbolic of how things and people can develop and change over time. It ends tragically but is also liberating, uplifting and just great”! Kelly is from Lyme Regis but now lives in Axminster with her husband and two beautiful children!

Joe has been fortunate enough to be a Musical Director for the last several years, having retired from the stage to transfer to the pit. Joe says he is delighted to be acting as Musical Director for Axminster's production of Evita and is looking forward to working closely with Kelly and Jodie to put on this ambitious production after a long year of missing making music with his 'stomping ground' society.

Credits as Musical Director Include: Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Annie, Sister Act and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Jekyll and Hyde

Jodie trained at The Italia Conti Academy of Theatre arts where she graduated with a degree in musical theatre and a foundation in teacher training. She has since returned home to work as a Secondary School Drama teacher alongside working on musicals and shows both as a performer and part of the production team.

This is her 4th production with AMT having voiced the killer plant in little shop of horrors, played ditzy Claire in Made in Dagenham and then working on all areas of the production team for Avenue Q which was a fantastic show that unfortunately we never got to share with you! ‘I had so much fun working on Avenue Q and was fortunate to be invited back to join the production team for Evita. This show is packed full of fantastic vocals and a gripping storyline. I can’t wait to add some Argentinean flare with the choreography!’
